Deputy Eoin Ó Broin asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government if the programme for Government commitment to hold a referendum on housing will be a referendum to enshrine the right to housing in the Constitution; and if so, the timeline for the publication of the legislation and the holding of the referendum. The commitments in relation to Constitutional reform in the Programme for Government provide for the holding of a referendum on housing.

I intend to consult with my colleagues in Government as to the proposal that should be put to the electorate and the appropriate timeframes that should apply to the process.
