241. Deputy Imelda Munster asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the funding allocation made to local authorities for tourism purposes in each of the years 2017 to 2019, inclusive; and the expected spend for 2020. [15510/20]
View answerMy Department does not provide funding for tourism purposes to local authorities other than for the development of greenways. Funding provided to local authorities for development of greenways in the relevant period was as follows: 2017 €5,938,460; 2018 €3,249,429; 2019 €4,635,944. In 2020 Revised Estimates Volume, including the amount carried over from 2019, the total amount allocated for expenditure on greenways is €27,000,000, the bulk of which is expected to be spent through local authorities.
