View answerThe Government is committed to providing services and supports for people with disabilities which will empower them to live independent lives, provide greater independence in accessing the services they choose, and enhance their ability to tailor the supports required to meet their needs and plan their lives.

The Government commits to prioritising early diagnosis and access to services for children and ensuring that the most effective interventions are provided for each child, to guarantee the best outcomes.
As the Deputy's question relates to a service issue, it has been referred to the HSE for direct reply.

The Department has been made aware of the two independent designated centres referred to by the Deputy that provide residential care in Dublin who have notified the HSE that they are no longer in a position to continue to operate. I have referred the Deputy’s questions to the HSE to answer the operational elements to his questions.

Deputy Neale Richmond asked the Minister for Health when extra Parkinson’s nurses will be recruited in Leinster in view of the fact there is one nurse per 1,760 persons with the condition which is significantly less than in Northern Ireland or the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
