349. Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Finance the number of employers that have returned payments made by the Revenue Commissioners under the temporary wage subsidy scheme since its inception; the amount in cash terms that has been returned to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised by Revenue that the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS) has provided financial support to over 65,000 employers in respect of almost 627,000 employees. The cost of the scheme to date is €2.17bn.

Revenue has also confirmed that 2,056 employers have returned TWSS payments amounting to €27.3m since the commencement of the scheme. These numbers are up to and including 27 July 2020.
