Questions (1026)

Éamon Ó Cuív

Question:

1026. Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) will be issued with an appointment for an assessment with the ASD services in counties Galway and Roscommon; the reason for the delay in issuing an appointment in view of the fact that they have been on the waiting list for a significant period of time and were due to be seen in July or August 2020; his plans to reduce the waiting times experienced by children and families waiting for ASD assessments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Programme for Government, Our Shared Future, recognises the need to improve services for both children and adults with disabilities through better implementation and by working together across Government in a better way.

The Government commits to prioritising early diagnosis and access to services for children and ensuring that the most effective interventions are provided for each child, to guarantee the best outcomes.

As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the deputy directly.
