I understand that the Deputy is referring to the National Childcare Scheme (NCS), which is an initiative under the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA). I am advised by that Department that the NCS is the first ever statutory entitlement to financial support for childcare. It establishes an equitable and progressive system of universal and income-related subsidies for children up to the age of 15.

I am further advised that Pobal has been engaged as the scheme administrator to manage the operation of the Scheme on behalf of the DCYA. The case raised by the Deputy has been referred by the DCYA to Pobal, who will contact the guardian in question directly to discuss the specific case and any concerns they may have.
