Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of people employed in the manufacturing and servicing sectors in County Kildare, respectively; the degree to which this number has fluctuated in the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Over the five year period 2015-2019 employment in manufacturing in Kildare decreased by 0.7%, while employment in services grew by 4.0%. This continues a long-run trend, mirrored internationally, of a shift towards services. However, manufacturing is still the major component of agency client employment in Kildare at 76.6%.
