280. Deputy Darren O'Rourke asked the Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications the number of complaints made to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities in 2019 by the type of complaint lodged; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [33904/20]
View answerThe Commission for Regulation of Utilities was established as a statutorily independent regulator (as the Commission for Electricity Regulation) under the Electricity Regulation Act 1999. This Act sets out that CRU "shall account for the performance of its functions to a Joint Committee of the Oireachtas". Therefore I, as Minister, do not have a statutory function in this matter.
However, I have asked CRU to contact the Deputy directly on this matter.
