561. Deputy Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if administrative work carried out by a public servant in a local authority is an essential service; and if these workers can be mandated to attend in person at their workplace or should be facilitated with working from home if possible. Under section 159 of the Local Government Act 2001, each Chief Executive is responsible for the staffing and organisational arrangements necessary for carrying out the functions of the local authority for which he or she is responsible.

This is a matter for the Chief Executive of the employing local authority.
