280. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Justice if any prior discussion took place between the Government here and the UK Government before the introduction of the Covert Human Intelligence Sources (Criminal Conduct) Bill in the UK Parliament in view of the extraterritorial applicability and implications for the criminal justice cooperation between Ireland and the UK; if the UK committed to notifying the authorities here when UK policing and security agencies authorise criminal acts to take place within the jurisdiction of the State; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, responsibility for the passage of legislation outside this jurisdiction or any consultation process that may be pursued as part thereof is a matter for the relevant authorities in that jurisdiction. 

As Minister for Justice, I have no role in the investigation of offences. However, I can inform the Deputy that all persons in this jurisdiction are fully subject to our laws and any evidence of breach of the criminal law would be fully pursued in the normal way by the relevant authorities.
