Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if the NPWS would continue to make use of a predator control contractor if its attention was drawn to the fact that the contractor accessed private land without permission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I assume the Deputy is referring to an alleged incident involving a contractor in Connemara. NPWS has reviewed this matter and is satisfied that the contractor did not access private lands without permission. NPWS have full confidence in this contractor in his ability to carry out this difficult predator control work for the conservation of threatened and vulnerable breeding birds in the Western Region.
