324. Deputy Neale Richmond asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the installation of prefabs in a school (details supplied) which were applied for in March 2020 and are having an effect on secondary school places in the wider Castleknock area; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Regarding the interim accommodation required by the school to which the Deputy refers for the current academic year the planning permission was granted with a number of pre-commemcement conditions and it was not possible for installation to commence until such time as the relevant local authority discharged all of these conditions. The conditions have now been discharged.

The Commencement Notice was issued on 25 November 2020 and a mandatory waiting period of two weeks meant that the earliest start on site date was the 9 December 2020. I can confirm that the contractor started on site on 9 December 2020.
