218. Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of illness benefit overpayments to date in 2020; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [43736/20]
View answerOver-payments of social welfare assistance and benefit payments arise as a consequence of decisions made under the relevant sections of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 2005 (as amended).
To the end of November 2020, some 15,700 cases of Illness Benefit over-payments have been raised to a value of €5.7 million.
I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
