View answerMy Department does not have any regulatory role in relation to the car rental sector, nor does it operate or administer any grant or support schemes for car rental firms. Like other retail service industries, it falls within the purview of my colleague the Tánaiste and the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. I understand that the tourism aspects are also considered by my colleague the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media in the context of tourism recovery.
The Government, as part of their general response to the Covid-19 crisis, has introduced a range of measures for all companies whose business is directly affected by the pandemic.
I understand that these measures can be applied for through Enterprise Ireland, which is under the aegis of my colleague the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, as noted.
