The table shows beef tonnage exported to China annually for the years 2015 to 2019 inclusive and for the first ten months of 2020. It is split into two categories, as market access to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is subject to a separate agreement and predates that to the rest of China. Ireland gained access to the Chinese beef market in 2018.

The Deputy will note an anomaly in the figures above in that some exports have been incorrectly assigned to China in 2015 and 2016, before beef access was agreed. Where such anomalies are identified in the statistical data, my Department will liaise with the Central Statistics Office to highlight and amend the information as required.

The full CSO trade stats for 2020 will not be available until mid-February 2021.
