Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Education if SNAs, SEN teachers and-or teachers in special schools, units and mainstream primary and secondary schools are all classified as essential workers; the vaccination allocation group which applies to each group of workers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The administration of the vaccine and prioritisation of vulnerable or essential groups is a matter for the Health Service Executive.
As the Deputy will be aware, the Strategy for the vaccine was developed by the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) and Department of Health, endorsed by the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET), and approved by Government on 8 December 2020.
