Deputy Jennifer Murnane O'Connor asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will honour commitments made by his predecessor to restore or loan artefacts originally from Athenry Castle and currently with the National Museum back to the castle; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I understand that officials from the Office of Public Works are liaising with colleagues in the National Monuments Service of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and the National Museum of Ireland in relation to this matter. I have asked for the Deputy to be informed as soon as there is further information.
