Questions (481)

Neasa Hourigan

Question:

481. Deputy Neasa Hourigan asked the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth if his attention has been drawn to the effects the current Covid-19 restrictions are having on the training and pairing of guide dogs; his plans to ensure the pairing of guide dogs with their forever family can resume as soon as circumstances allow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. This is not a matter which has previously been brought to my attention as the training and pairing of guide dogs is not a matter which falls within the remit of my Department. I would suggest that the Deputy contact the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind in relation to this matter.  The HSE may also be able to provide assistance with information as to the potential impact of the current Covid-19 restrictions on this issue.
