150. Deputy Cormac Devlin asked the Minister for Transport his plans to review or amend the national guidelines for setting and managing speed limits in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6958/21]
View answerThe 2020 Programme for Government includes a commitment to review and reduce speed limits, where appropriate, to address both road safety issues and carbon emissions, and ensure greater compliance. In implementing this commitment, consideration will be given, in the first instance, to the legislative framework relating to speed limits and following on from that consideration any necessary revisions to the speed limit guidelines will be examined.
