Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Education the non-grant payments made to local authorities for the variety of services provided by them by county; the amount awarded under each stream in each of the years 2018 to 2020 and to date in 2021, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. View answerIn the period 2018 to date in 2021, my Department has made non-grant payments totalling €22,554,804 to local authorities in Ireland in payment for the provision of a range of goods and services. The table below provides a summary of payments to local authorities in the years in question.
It should be noted that the amounts for 2018 and 2019 include payments for services to the Department of Education and Skills, including services relating to functions that were transferred to Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science in 2020.
