1673. Deputy David Cullinane asked the Minister for Health the number of women currently involved in court cases, litigation and negotiation with the HSE regarding the alleged misreading of their smear tests from the CervicalCheck screening programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The State Claims Agency (SCA) has a statutory remit to manage personal injury claims on behalf of Delegated State Authorities including the Health Service Executive. The State Claims Agency has provided me with the following information, in respect of the Deputy's question.

The below information has been extracted from the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and is accurate as of 16/03/2020. To date, 207 claims have been received from women regarding the alleged misreading of their smear tests and a further 49 claims have been received from family members/dependents. Of the 256 claims, proceedings have been issued in respect of 190 of these claims. To date, 31 claims have been concluded.
