Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Transport if there is an alternative to Iarnród Éireann in carrying out ongoing maintenance works on the rail line in Dún Laoghaire in view of the effect of the noise on local residents (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. The issue raised is a matter for Iarnród Éireann and I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply.
