Deputy Holly Cairns asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications the amount each local authority will receive from the €5 million additional funding for litter prevention and cleaning announced on 5 May 2021; the rationale for the assignment of funds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerMy Department issued a circular to each Local Authority about the additional €5 million funding allocation on 5 May and is liaising with individual Local Authorities to establish a platform for funding proposals and to identify where additional infrastructure is most needed. Each Local Authority will appoint a lead person to work with my Department.Once the process is complete, funding will be allocated and individual allocations will be known.
