View answerIn order to protect our population from the worst effects of the virus and to enable our healthcare system to continue to function and provide essential frontline healthcare services against the virus, it has been necessary for Government to take unprecedented action on public health measures including the introduction of the mandatory hotel quarantine system.
Given the epidemiology situation in Ireland and across Europe, and the risk of importation of new strains of Covid-19, the Government suspended the operation of the 'EU Traffic Light System'.
Government will consider the role of mandatory hotel quarantine and other matters in relation to international travel this week.
