72. Deputy Duncan Smith asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if his Department plans to develop a strategy to tackle food waste in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30016/21]
View answerThe strategy for tackling food waste is clearly set out in the range of comprehensive actions focusing on food waste prevention, redistribution, infrastructure and food waste management contained in the Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy, which was published in September 2020. These include a commitment to halve food waste by 2030. The plan is available at www.gov.ie. In addition, I intend to provide for the introduction of a statutory Food Loss Prevention Roadmap through the Circular Economy Bill, the General Scheme of which I hope to publish shortly.
