Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the new procedures that will be put in place in circumstances in which a person travels to Ireland from non-EU countries after 19 July 2021 and in which they have clear evidence that they have received a Covid-19 vaccine; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThere continues to be a Government Advisory in place against non-essential travel, which will remain in place until 18 July. From 19 July, and subject to the prevailing epidemiologic situation, Government advice will be to travel safely and in accordance with public health guidance and restrictions and to avoid non-essential travel to countries to which an ‘emergency brake’ has been applied.
With regard to passengers arriving from the EU, Ireland will operate EU Digital Covid Certificates for travel. With regard to passengers arriving from outside the EU, Ireland will also broadly align itself to the approach to non-essential travel to the EU from Third Countries. Any quarantine requirements, where applicable, will depend on the specific country of origin and the public health situation in that jurisdiction.
As the Deputy will appreciate, specific questions regarding public health guidelines for individuals arriving in the State are a matter for the Department of Health, as are the guidelines around recognition of vaccines.
