View answerDirective (EU) 2019/904, commonly referred to as the Single Use Plastics Directive obliges MS to prohibit all products containing oxo-degradable plastic from being placed on the market from 3 July this year. The Commission’s recently published Guidance on the scope of this Directive clarifies that there is no distinction between oxo-degradable plastic and oxo-degradable plastic that is biodegradable. Stocks of these products that have been placed on the market before 3 July can be used after the deadline, but cannot be placed on the market after that date.
