At present, live music performances – whether acoustic or otherwise – are not generally permitted at outdoor hospitality venues.  The Government has confirmed that the next phase of reopening will be based on a cautious approach with an emphasis on lower-risk activities, following advice from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) that the incidence of the Delta variant in Ireland poses a significant risk, particularly to those who are not yet fully vaccinated.  Further Government decisions, including the conditions under which hospitality venues can facilitate the playing of music, will be informed by the impact of the Delta variant.  I have however recently raised the matter with Government colleagues, who have noted my intention to seek specific health advice in relation to the resumption of live entertainment in indoor and outdoor settings, particularly at licensed venues such as restaurants, pubs and hotels.
