Deputy Holly Cairns asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the actions that are taken by his Department or public bodies under his remit to inspect animal welfare organisations before such organisations can be given charitable status; and if he will make a statement on the matter. All charitable organisations operating in Ireland are required to be registered with the Charities Regulator who deal with applications and requirements for charitable status. The Department has no involvement in animal welfare organisations being granted charitable status.
