Deputy Jennifer Whitmore asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications the number of homes that have applied for SEAI solar grants; the number of homes that have been granted for each year since its inception and to date in 2021; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland administers the grant scheme to assist homeowners to install solar PV panels. The scheme was launched in July 2018. The table below outlines the applications and number of homes supported to date under the scheme, as of 31 October 2021.

Solar PV is also funded under the Communities Energy Grant Scheme, which makes grant funding available to improve the energy efficiency of the building stock, and is open to domestic and non-domestic applications. Latest available figures show that in 2020, 137 domestic applicants received support for solar PV installations under this scheme.
