Deputy Thomas Pringle asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications the number of expressions of interest received in relation to the support scheme for renewable heat; the number of full applications made; the number of applications approved; the number of applicants issued a letter of offer; the number of applicants who have completed all inspections for each year the scheme has been in operation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH) is a government funded initiative designed to increase the energy generated from renewable sources in the heat sector whilst also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The scheme is open to commercial, industrial, agricultural, district heating, public sector and other non-domestic heat users and is administered by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

The SSRH provides an operational support for biomass boilers and anaerobic digestion heating systems and an installation grant for renewable heating systems using heat pumps.

The total number of applications received to the end of October 2021 is 105 with the breakdown set out in the table below.
