View answerOn 21st December 2021, the Government approved the final design of the Micro-generation Support Scheme (MSS). This scheme will see supports for new installations, including solar PV, in the form of a capital grant for domestic and small non-domestic applicants, or a premium export tariff for larger non-domestic applicants. The MSS is being introduced on a phased basis this year. The MSS domestic solar PV grant scheme commenced on the 16th February. Domestic applicants can apply to the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) for a grant towards the cost of installing solar PV equipment up a maximum of €2,400 in 2022.. However, under the MSS there is no minimum post-works BER requirement and homes built pre-2021 are eligible.In light of these approved changes, the SEAI has been in contact with the applicant concerned to confirm their application is now eligible for a grant. The Department understand that their application for a grant is currently being processed by the SEAI.
