Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science if he will consider the establishment of a campus in Kilkenny to provide a national centre for apprenticeships as part of the new South East Technological University; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerAs the Deputy will be aware, the development or operation of any campus of the new multi-campus South East Technological University will be a matter in the first instance for the governing body of the new university upon its establishment.
In February this year, I launched two new capital investment programmes for the higher education sector, including one focused on the technological sector, as well as two new programmes for the further education and training (FET) sector. Higher education institutions and Education and Training Boards have received details on how to apply for capital funding under these programmes.
