Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for Health his plans to expand the reimbursement for the FreeStyle Libre device continuous glucose monitoring sensor to over 21 years of age under the HSE’s community funded scheme for aids and appliances (details supplied); if so, the details of these plans; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Health Service Executive (HSE) has statutory responsibility for decisions on pricing and reimbursement of medicines and medical devices under the community drug schemes, in accordance with the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, I have asked the HSE to respond to the deputy directly, as soon as possible.
