Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media if her attention has been drawn to the fact by persons ordinarily employed in occupations in Irish film and television production, that there is widespread lack of employment in the industry currently; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the current employment situation in the live-filming sub-sector of the audiovisual industry.  It would usually be the case that there would be significant activity in this sub-sector at this point of the year. I understand that the very high incidence of COVID19 cases, coupled with the requirements of live filming, the commencement date of a number of productions has been pushed back.  I understand, however, that many live-action productions are already in pre-production and the position is expected to improve significantly in the coming weeks.
