View answerThe main financial support available to eligible students attending full-time further and higher education courses is the statutory based Student Grant Scheme administered by SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland). At further education level this may include a maintenance grant depending on eligibility. The decision on eligibility for a student grant is a matter, in the first instance, for the centralised student grant awarding authority SUSI to determine. Under the terms of the Student Grant Scheme, grant assistance is awarded to students attending an approved course in an approved institution who meet the prescribed conditions of funding, including those relating to nationality, residency, previous academic attainment and means.
With regard to this specific student, I have been advised by my officials that the student in question has not yet submitted an application to SUSI.
