The European Union Recovery Instrument (EURI) is a fund established by the European Union as part of the European Recovery and Resilience Facility to support recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic.

A total of €20 million was provided for the years 2021 and 2022 to the LEADER Local Action Groups for allocation in line with the EURI objectives of addressing the impact of COVID-19 and economic recovery.

The purpose of EURI funding was to provide local communities and enterprises with an opportunity to respond to the challenges of the pandemic and support measures that encouraged employment and job creation, provide support for new and innovative projects in the green economy, and to maximise the potential of broadband and the digital economy in communities.

To date, €19.4 million in EURI funding has been drawn down through the 2014-2022 LEADER Programme and it is anticipated that remaining EURI funding will be drawn down by the end of 2024.
