The Social Welfare Appeals Office is an Office of the Department of Social Protection which is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements. Appeals Officers are independent in their decision making functions.
The Social Welfare Appeals Office has advised me that an appeal by the person concerned was registered with the Appeals Office on 26 September 2024. The relevant departmental papers were also requested from the Disability Allowance section of the Department on 26 September 2024. I am advised that the Disability Allowance section have completed a further review and have revised the original decision and notified the Appeals Office that they have now awarded the claim. The appeal was subsequently withdrawn by the Appeals Office on 05 November 2024.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
