Question:

219. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Transport if he is aware of the wheelchair-accessible taxi grant scheme portal’s technical failure which left many applicants unable to apply for the grant; if he will ensure that drivers who were unable to access the scheme this time are prioritised in the next round of applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry, including the administration of the wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) grant scheme, is a matter for the independent transport regulator, the National Transport Authority (NTA), under the provisions of the Consolidated Taxi Regulation Acts 2013 and 2016. I have no role in the day-to-day operations of the SPSV sector.

Accordingly, I have referred your question to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you have not received a response within 10 working days.
