View answerCarer's Allowance (CA) is a means-tested social assistance payment made to a person who is habitually resident in the State and who is providing full-time care and attention to a child or an adult who has such a disability that as a result they require that level of care.
I can confirm that my Department received an application for CA from the person concerned on 20 March 2024.
As a result of an Appeals Officer's decision, the person concerned was awarded CA from 21 March 2024. The person concerned was notified of this decision in writing on 1 April 2025.
The first payment issued to their nominated bank account on 10 April 2025. Arrears due from 21 March 2024 to 9 April 2025 have also issued to the nominated bank account of the person concerned.
I can confirm that my Department has no record of an application for CA from the person concerned in 2022.
I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
