Researcher in residence Prof. David Lewis

Prof. Dave Lewis spent three months as a researcher in residence with us under the SFI Public Service Fellowship Programme. During his time with us, Prof. Lewis investigated different approaches for public engagement in the regulation and governance of AI (artificial intelligence) technology.

Prof. Lewis's residency ran from 15 March to 15 June. His research paper will be available here when published.

Prof. Dave Lewis is an associate professor at the School of Computer Science and Statistics in Trinity College, Dublin where he leads the artificial intelligence discipline and is the deputy director of the ADAPT SFI Research Centre for Digital Content Technology, where he leads research into open data standards for governance of AI.

He serves as an AI expert with the National Standards Authority of Ireland, representing Ireland in international standardization activities, where he focusses on stakeholder involvement in trustworthy and ethical AI.
