Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Broadcasting Legislation Special Powers.
6 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications the reason it was felt necessary to invoke special powers under the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960, to allow for a special radio and television broadcast by the Taoiseach two days before the Maastricht referendum; and the reason such action was not taken during the referendum on the Single European Act.

60 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Education his views on whether there has been a magnification of the many problems associated with the different grant schemes, in particular the fact that many grants will not be paid until well after the start of the college term; the reason this delay occurs; and if he intends to make the necessary changes to bring the payment date into line with the needs of the students who benefit from these grants.
