The Joint Committee on Health has published a report on its pre-legislative scrutiny of the Patient Safety (Licensing) Bill.

The report highlights a number of key areas which the committee says require further consideration before the Bill progresses.

The Bill would introduce a licensing system with the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) as the granting authority. The Bill also sets a number of requirements which health service providers must meet. Such requirements include providing financial statements and continuous patient safety reports to HIQA.
