The Houses of the Oireachtas hosted the Association of CSPE Teachers national conference on Saturday, 19 October.
The keynote speakers were Barry Andrews and Lisa Walshe. Barry Andrews is due to serve as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Dublin constituency when the UK leaves the EU. Lisa Walshe is a lecturer in the school of political science and sociology at NUI Galway and is academic director of the H.Dip in politics and society.
The participants availed of workshops on topics including digital citizenship, climate change and human rights. They also got a first look at the educational materials which the Houses of the Oireachtas Communications Unit is producing to support the new CSPE curriculum.
The conference was also supported by the Department of Education and Skills through the Teacher Professional Networks scheme.
