The Oireachtas Library & Research Service participated in the Science Foundation Ireland Summit in Athlone last week.
Maria Fitzsimons, Head of Research at the Oireachtas Library & Research Service, participated in a workshop entitled Influencing Policy – Engaging with Politicians and Policy Makers. The workshop panel discussed how scientists can better engage with the Oireachtas. Other members of the panel were Denis Naughten TD and Professor Kevin O’Connor (BEACON, EU Mission Board).
Participation in the seminar was part of the L&RS’s increased engagement with the scientific community. Other initiatives include:
- A series of scientific seminars in Leinster House in collaboration with SFI
- Participation in the SFI Public Service Fellowship Programme
- The Oireachtas Science Pairing Scheme with the RIA
