Check out photos from Culture Night 2024 @ Leinster HouseLeinster House, one of Ireland's most significant buildings and the home of its Parliament, was cast in a different light on Culture Night.
Normally associated with parliamentary business and political activities, on Culture Night members of the public could see a lesser-seen side of this magnificent 18th-century building, including its magnificent Georgian architecture and the historic art on display throughout the parliamentary complex.
Culture Night is an annual nationwide event in which arts and cultural destinations of all shapes and sizes welcome the public into an evening celebrating culture, heritage, diversity and spectacle.
The Houses of the Oireachtas Service, synonymous with historic Leinster House, has been proud to take part in Culture Night over the years, and this year saw hundreds of people invited to walk through the history-filled corridors of Parliament. Irish Sign Language tours and tours in the Irish language were provided along with English-language guided tours and, for the first time, Culture Night took place with the Houses of the Oireachtas accredited as an autism-friendly Parliament. Opening the doors of the parliamentary campus brings about a crucial connection between the public and its parliamentary system and facilitates a better understanding of our democratic process, and at the core of all this is the goal of making Leinster House a Parliament for all its people.
Musical entertainment complemented the historic surroundings, with a return to the Houses for the Rathfarnham Ukulele Group and singing, music and dance provided by St. Damian's National School Choir, Insieme Acapella Choir, Cór Linn Youth Choir and the Discovery Gospel Choir.
