Keep up to date on what's happening in the European Commission, Council and Parliament with the weekly Oireachtas Digest on Europe.

This week the Civil Liberties Committee will hold a first debate with Internal Affairs and Migration Commissioner Brunner on proposed changes to EU legislation on the returns of people who have no legal right to remain in Europe.

On 8 April a proposal to boost EU screening system of foreign direct investments to identify and mitigate potential risks to EU security is up for a vote by the International Trade Committee. 

Commissioner Hadja Lahbib will receive Mary Collins, Secretary General of the European Women's Lobby on 7 April. 

On 10 April, Commissioner Michael McGrath meets with Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister for Justice of Ukraine; Christopher Lehane, Chief Global Affairs Officer of OpenAI; delivers a keynote speech at the 12th European Retails Innovation Summit 2025; Barbara Condon, CEO of Ruhama, and Frances Fitzgerald, Ambassador for Ruhama.
