Building on some notable successes in recent years, the Houses of the Oireachtas Service continues to be recognised for its innovation and dedication to providing excellent public service.
This month, the sustainability, safety and accessibility team was awarded the upgraded Silver Smart Travel Mark by the National Transport Authority in recognition of our ongoing commitment to sustainable commuting. A new plaque to mark the award was formally presented to the unit by the National Transport Authority and it will be displayed in the Leinster House campus.

The Houses of the Oireachtas has continued to gain awards attention for its public service work
At the 2025 Social Media Awards, more commonly known as the "Sockies", the Houses of the Oireachtas team added to its previous honours by being awarded gold in the "Social Media Strategy Public Body" category. The annual ceremony is held in Liberty Hall, Dublin, with this year's iteration taking place on 29 May. This is the tenth gold award for the Houses of the Oireachtas at the Sockies, which recognise best practice in digital communications across public and private sector organisations in Ireland. The finalists in the category included Óglaigh na hÉireann, the Central Bank of Ireland, Dublin Fire Brigade, and UL Student Life.
These awards come as the Parliamentary Budget Office took part in this year's Civil Service Excellence and Innovation Awards, with the "Establishment of the Parliamentary Budget Office’s Policy and Election Proposal Costing Service" project nominated in the "World Class Civil Service" category.
The Office of Parliamentary Legal Advisers have also been recognised for its work as a finalist in the public sector/Civil Service in-house legal team of the year category in the LEAP Irish Law Awards 2025. These awards aim to identify, honour and publicise outstanding achievements and recognise those who have dedicated their lives to serving in the legal profession.
