Pride celebrations have been taking place across Ireland, and in advance of Dublin Pride, staff and Members at the Houses of the Oireachtas gathered to mark the occasion.

The Ceann Comhairle, Verona Murphy TD, hosted a coffee morning on Thursday, 26 June, in the coffee dock, LH2000.

Dublin Pride 2025 has a special meaning this year as an opportunity to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the marriage equality "Yes" vote, one of the most momentous years for LGBTQ+ rights in Irish history.

In her speech the Ceann Comhairle welcomed the people who have come together to mark the event and talked about the history of Pride, the early protests and the journey to equality.

She took time to remember the work and struggles of those who have brought us to this point and the courage and resilience they showed. She added that this year’s theme of "Taking Liberties" acknowledges that the fight for equality continues but that "We all stand together".
