Pre-Budget Submissions to be discussed by Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture

7 Nov 2011, 17:06

The Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture will meet (tomorrow) Tuesday, 8th November at 1.30 pm in Committee Room 3, Leinster House to discuss Pre-Budget Submissions from representative farming and agriculture organisations.

Representatives from the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA); Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA); Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association (ICSA); and Macra na Feirme will be in attendance to brief members of the Committee on their submissions.

Committee Chairman Andrew Doyle, TD said: “The Committee has an opportunity tomorrow to engage with the organisations that represent those directly involved in the agriculture and farming sectors.  We are all aware of the economic difficulties and challenges being experienced at present and look forward to discussing the priorities of these groups as we face into this crucial Pre-Budget phase.  With challenges come opportunities and I am looking forward to hearing some positive ideas and suggestions that may be contained in the submissions of these key industry stakeholders.”
